Industrial Chemicals

Industrial and specialty chemicals are regulated in the US by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). In the EU, these chemicals are subject to the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 – better known as REACH. Tens of thousands of chemical substances fall under these regulations.

REACH Consulting Support in Europe (EU/EEA)

The REACH Regulation applies across the European Economic Area (EEA) – comprising the 27 EU Member States plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway – and sets out the requirements that companies must meet when placing chemical substances on the market.
 
CSI has been actively involved in REACH since its introduction and provides technical and regulatory support to help companies meet their compliance obligations efficiently and cost-effectively.   • Acting as Only Representative for non-EU manufacturers under REACH

REACH Consulting Support in the UK

Following the UK’s exit from the EU, the REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 was retained in UK law (UK REACH) and establishes the requirements that companies must meet when manufacturing or importing chemical substances into Great Britain.
 
The UK REACH regime continues to evolve, with ongoing regulatory developments including the proposed changes to data requirements under the Alternative Transitional Registration model (ATRm). CSI supports clients in understanding these changes and developing practical compliance strategies suited to their specific supply chains and business needs. The registration deadlines have been moved back to 27th October 2029, 2030 and 2031.

Nick is a Senior Consultant at Compliance Services International, serving as an Account Manager for EU/UK REACH clients in the industrial chemicals sector. He specialises in the preparation of technical dossiers for REACH, Biocides and Plant Protection Products, providing end-to-end support from strategy development through to post-submission engagement with regulatory authorities.
 
With a strong focus on delivering practical regulatory solutions, Nick works closely with clients to navigate the evolving chemical regulatory landscape, ensuring submissions are robust, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.
 
Nick also supports CSI’s marketing activities, contributing to technical content and helping to communicate complex regulatory topics to a wider audience.
 
Prior to joining CSI, Nick was an Environmental Fate Study Director at Charles River Laboratories, where he led studies on the behaviour of active substances and metabolites in water, light and soil environments under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
 
Nick is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and holds Chartered Scientist (CSci) status.

At CSI Nick is the Account Manager for our Industrial Chemicals (REACH) clients. He specialises in the preparation of technical dossiers for REACH, Biocides and Plant Protection Products, including post-submission support during evaluation by regulatory authorities and designing strategies to assist companies in the evolving world of chemical regulations.

Nick previously served as an Environmental Fate Study Director at Charles River Laboratories, testing new active substances and associated metabolites in water, light and soil matrices working to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Nick is also a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and currently holds Chartered Scientist (CSci) status.
