$3 Million Grant To Increase Innovative Conservation Practices

Leah Duzy, Principal Consultant / Agricultural Economist for Compliance Services International (CSI), is providing economic support to an Auburn University research team, under the College of Agriculture, that was recently awarded a $3 million grant to help forge a future for Alabama agriculture by encouraging the use of innovative conservation practices.
The $3 million grant comes from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) On-Farm Conservation Innovation Trials (On-Farm Trials) and is designed to help partners implement and evaluate innovative approaches that have demonstrated conservation benefits on farmland. The project will also help farmers evaluate nutrient losses and demonstrate the agronomic, economic and environmental benefits of improved conservation compared to farmers’ “business as usual” practices.
