CSI's Experience Is Your Competitive Advantage

EXPERTISE IS ACCUMULATED EXPERIENCE

Why Deep Human Knowledge Remains Essential in Regulatory Science

In regulatory science, the difference between efficient product registration and costly delays often depends on one key factor: experienced guidance shaped by work across a broad range of products.

At Compliance Services International Consultants, LLC (CSI), we believe expertise is not just a credential; it is accumulated experience. And few professionals illustrate that better than CSI Senior Science Fellow Cliff Habig.

CSI's Experience Is Your Competitive Advantage

Cliff Habig

Senior Science Fellow

Maryland/Maine

With more than 30 years of consulting experience in environmental and dietary risk assessment, Cliff has designed and overseen GLP studies in ecotoxicology, environmental fate, and residue chemistry. He has also led numerous specialized projects, including endocrine disruptor studies, and provides strategic guidance on EDSP-related issues.

Cliff offers deep expertise in ecotoxicology, environmental fate, and residue chemistry, helping U.S. and international clients identify the studies needed to support diverse chemistries and secure product registrations with U.S., California, and global regulatory authorities. His work includes agency-focused exposure modeling, especially for the EPA, to assess potential risks to aquatic and terrestrial organisms, a key component of environmental risk assessments for conventional pesticides and biopesticides. He also conducts dietary risk assessments, including tolerance and tolerance exemption proposals, as well as higher-tier exposure and probabilistic risk evaluations to support product registration strategies.

  • Conducted sediment toxicity research using natural sediments collected from several sites along the Atlantic coast
  • Conducted surveys and species collections of marine pelagic and benthic invertebrates
  • Served as an invited participant in EPA’s ECOFRAM Aquatic Work Group (1997–1999), contributing to the risk assessment frameworks still used across North America today
  • Conducted and published multiple neurotoxicological studies on the effects of selected pesticides on fish and aquatic invertebrates
  • Attended SETAC North America annual meetings since 1987, presenting either original research or discussions on environmental risk assessment models and methods, with presentations as recently as 2025

When your regulatory challenge requires someone who was in the room when the frameworks were written and who has stayed current ever since, that is the CSI difference.

We would welcome the opportunity to show you how Cliff and the broader CSI team can support your next project under FIFRA, EPA ecological risk assessment, environmental fate and exposure assessment, residue chemistry and tolerances, or pesticide registration.

Expertise: Environmental Risk Assessment, Ecotoxicology,
Environmental Fate & Residue Chemistry

Cliff provides consulting expertise for environmental risk assessments and dietary risk assessments, including overseeing GLP studies in ecotoxicology, environmental fate, and residue chemistry. Cliff also provides expertise on endocrine disruptor (EDSP) issues.

Cliff has over 30 years of experience in overseeing testing in ecotoxicology, environmental fate, and residue chemistry, providing analysis and strategic support to US and international clients to determine appropriate studies to support and register their products with US, California, and international regulatory agencies. This work includes conducting regulatory agency modeling, particularly EPA modeling, modeling for standard environmental risk assessments, dietary risk assessments, and proposing tolerances or tolerance exemptions for conventional chemical pesticides, biopesticides, microbial pesticides, and non-pesticide products. Cliff also conducts higher-tier and probabilistic risk evaluations to support clients’ products. Cliff previously worked at Jellinik, Schwartz, and Connolly (JSC), Novigen, and Exponent. Cliff has numerous publications and presentations at professional conferences, participates in chemical industry workshops, and serves on expert panels.
